Counselling

What is counselling ?

Most people know that counselling is a talking therapy which takes place either in person in a safe place or via the phone or online.

A person tells a trained counsellor their issues and the Counsellor and client look at coping strategies and ways to manage these issues.

What many people don't realise is that Counselling requires a lot of input and effort from the client. The Counsellor can suggest various strategies, but it is down to the individual to carry out what has been discussed. Without this commitment Counselling is unlikely to benefit you.

Our counselling service is a confidential service.

What can we offer?

We’re delighted to offer up to 6 free counselling sessions for carers living in Swansea. Our aim is to provide you with the support you need in a way that works best for you.

How it works:

  • When a counselling slot becomes available, we’ll contact you directly.

  • Sessions may be face-to-face, by phone, or online, depending on what the counsellor can offer.

  • Each session lasts 50 minutes and is completely confidential.

  •

Because our service is in high demand and we currently have two part-time counsellors, appointment times may be limited. If the offered time doesn’t suit you, we’ll keep you on the waiting list and contact you again when another slot becomes available.

What to expect:

  • If you accept the offered date and time, you’ll receive up to 6 free sessions.

  • At the end of your sessions, your counsellor will discuss next steps and other support options available through Swansea Carers Centre.

  • If your needs require a specialist type of counselling that we don’t currently provide, our counsellors will guide you on how to access the right support.
