Helping Family Carers

Are you a parent carer?

Caring for your child with a disability or health condition brings many diverse challenges to families and is often a lifelong commitment.

Maybe you are part of the ‘sandwich generation’?

More and more parents are combining looking after a dependent child under the age of 18 with caring for an adult relative or friend’- this is sometimes called ‘sandwich caring’.

The Helping Family Carers project at Swansea Carer Centre is designed and co-produced by carers for carers – this means that we can provide the tailored, personal support you need at the right time to make a difference.

The demands of caring can have an impact on a carers own health, well-being, employment and career, finances and family life and the Helping Family Carers project offers a range of services to help, including:

  • Information

  • Advocacy support

  • Bespoke training

  • Skills packages

  • Workplace support and advice for carers and employers
