Caring for someone with Dementia

The Carers Dementia Service provides personalised, ongoing support for carers of someone living with Dementia or awaiting a diagnosis for Dementia

The main aim is to protect carers own physical and emotional well being by providing comprehensive one to one support and guidance through their caring journey. The service provides:

  • Emotional support
  • Practical support
  • Information and training
  • Signposting to other services
  • Crisis respite/carers breaks

Carer quote

“Since accessing the Carers Dementia Service, I’ve realised I am not alone….I’ve been on training courses, social trips and received a companionship service for my husband to enable me to concentrate on my own well-being… it’s changed my life”

There is a weekly Dementia Carers Support session at the Carers Cwtsh. Carers are encouraged to share their experiences with other Carers and have an opportunity to speak to staff about any issues or concerns.

Carer quote

“ The Cwtsh has become my safe place, it’s where I come to have a laugh, it’s given me confidence”.

Carer quote

“I find myself bottling things up, until I can let it all out at the Dementia drop-in… I’ve made so many new friends …..”
