Dear colleague / friend of Swansea Carers Centre
Re : Recruitment of new trustees
Swansea Carers Centre is one of Wales’ most established centres for the support of unpaid carers. Over the past few years, we have seen a significant increase in the services and projects we provide, an increase in the numbers of carers we engage with, an increase in the number of staff and volunteers and last year we moved to a new modern and carer friendly premises. We were also successful in securing the tender for developing and delivering the first point of contact service for carers in Swansea, The Hwb.
We are rightly proud of all the developments going on at the centre, but it could not have happen without having a strong and supportive board of trustees to steer and support the organisation. Many of our trustees have been on the Board of Trustees for over 15 years, and they have played a vital part in the development of Swansea Carers Centre. As some trustees are looking to look at doing other things with their spare time. We have a strong and diverse board of trustees who all bring something to the board, but sadly we are looking to 2-3 trustees resigning in the coming months and we are therefore having a trustee recruitment drive. Whilst we are seeking trustees with various skills or just wanting to support services for carers, we are seeking somebody with financial skills / experience who could take up the role of honorary treasurer.
Our honorary treasurer has been with us for over 10 years but sadly will be “hanging up his cheque book” at our AGM in November. He will still be around to “show the ropes” to anybody who may be interested in filling his shows or just want more information. We would be grateful if you could share this appeal for a new honorary treasurer or for anybody interested on joining our board of trustees.
We appreciate that most people are busy these days, but if you have a few hours a month and are wanting to be part of a successful carers support service in Swansea, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please feel free to send me an email or give me a call and I would be happy to answer any queries you may have.
