Swansea Carers Centre are helping their community during this challenging time thanks to National Lottery players.

Swansea Carers Centre has received £15,976 from The National Lottery Community Fund.  This will mean we can continue to reach more carers and keep them more informed with up to date information support & advice

The charity already have a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to work long term and intensively with Health and social care professionals at 45 GP surgeries and 4 hospitals across Swansea, supporting Primary and Community Care staff to increase their carer awareness, help the identification of carers and increase new carer referrals to our carer support centre services. This additional money will mean we can meet the costs of our community response to the situation.

Emma Daniels, Deputy Director said “Unpaid, family carers are some of the most likely people to face increasing challenges (such as fear, poor mental health, increased stress, increased isolation and carer crisis) as a direct result of COVID-19. We are already experiencing an increase in demand for our carer support services and expect that demand to increase dramatically over the next few weeks and months as more people are affected by the pandemic. This funding will enable us to make sure we are reaching as many carers in Swansea as possible.”
