Carers join the Queen at inaugural Zoom meeting

By Royal Appointment! To mark Carers Week 2020, The Queen and The Princess Royal spoke to a group of carers who are supported by The Carers Trust to find out more about the challenges they face.

This was The Queen’s first public Zoom meeting.

We are delighted that one of the carers interviewed was Alex Atkins. Alex is a carer for her mother and grandmother; she is also the co-ordinator of our Young Adult Carers Project.

‘What was really nice was that, while you could tell she had never done that kind of call for work before, she really took it in her stride.’ said Alex ‘She was listening to what we were saying… It felt lovely to be so appreciated… To have them both talking face to face to us was just unreal. It hit me that I was sitting in my bedroom talking to the Princess Royal and the Queen.’
