Visitors enjoy a wide range of activities

The Caring Break Service gives unpaid carers a well earned break.  The carer can be sure that the person they look after is receiving care of the very highest standard either at our day centre Ty Conway or at home through our support services.  

The Home Support Service   Mon to Fri 9am-5pm

A qualified support assistant will take will take care of the cared for at home whilst the carer enjoys a break for 2-4 hours, or more for special occasions.  The break can enable the carer to attend medical appointments, meet up with friends, do some shopping or simply ‘chill out.’  Provision of care includes:

Toileting, washing, changing (if necessary) eating, drinking and oral care, minimal assistance with moving e.g. from bed to chair/wheelchair to standing and to and from toilet, support with medication, light housework and food preparation.

Sharing the Care Service    Mon to Fri – 9am-5pm  (some weekend and evening service can be offered)

This is a ‘not for profit’ fee paying service which supplements the Home Support Service.

The Day Centre  at Ty Conway, Brenig Road, Penlan   Mon to Sat 10am – 3.30pm 

On arrival our visitors enjoy a hot drink and toast, followed by activities of their choice.   Lunch is a two course meal (choice between two main courses) with fruit juice and is served at 12.00 noon.  In the afternoon we offer hot drinks and cakes. A variety of activities are available at the day centre including  music, arts and crafts, quizzes, armchair exercises or just sitting and chatting. Our aim is to re-unite a happy and contented  person with a more relaxed carer.

How to access this serviceCarers can access the service directly or be referred by a professional e.g. social worker or health professional or voluntary organisation.  All staff and volunteers are fully trained and subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure.
