Unveiling our mosaic

During a Carers Week event in June, carers were invited to contribute ideas to design a mosaic which would hang in the reception of Swansea Carers Centre. From the various thoughts and images, a design emerged. This morning at the Carers Centre the mosaic was finally unveiled. Mary Hayman, the artist who helped create the mosaic spoke about how the project evolved and gave an explanation of each stage of the project. Entertainment was provided by the Singing Break Project. Congratulations to all involved!!choir-snipmosaic-snip

On Thursday the 4th of August members of the Young Carers Project along with two Swansea Carers  staff went on a trip to Caswell Bay to try out surfing.

The group appreciated the opportunity to go somewhere that they wouldn’t usually go , and to have a break.

A young adult carer remarked that they had been looking forward to the trip because ” It is going to be the best day that I’ve had all week”

Lessons were booked with Gower Surfing LTD.The day was a success with a number of  the young carers saying they would go surfing again.surfing-photo

The Book Club in August was thrilled when Swansea author,  Tracy Rees came along to book club. We had recently read her new book ‘Florence Grace’ and we were all extremely excited to have Tracy along to explain the characters how she came to develop the story. Tracy also updated the group on what she has been up to and working on since we read her book ‘Amy Snow’.tracy-rees1 book-cover-2
